Following are some basic tips for you to make your resume perfect: 1. Understand what your resume is about to gain: Resume is, in fact, an approach to market your own image. Your goal is to impress the employer to open the path to the interview phase. With such goal, your resume must achieve the following: Prove to the employer that you truly want to be employed and are willing to contribute your best to the job. Show the employer that you have good qualification and working experience that exceed other candidates. Show your personality and traits that are suitable to the job. Present your good achievements at work that you have gained. Show that you are ready to enter the interview.
Job of the Resume Writer. A resume writer should not only write a resume, but he should do it well. But this is not the only function which a writer is trained to do. A good writer of resumes molds the resume according to the job description. This however, does not mean that the resume is a lie. It simply highlights and aligns the qualities of the applicant with what the potential employers are looking for. This is something an average person with no experience is unable to do. They have no ideas as to how they should highlight their strengths to suit the employer’s needs. But a professional writer of resumes is aware of industry buzz words; the job related key words etc. and will be able to use these to the maximum advantage of the applicant. Selecting a Good Resume Writer. The selection of a good writer is not as easy as expected. Unfortunately, there are too many online resume writing services which offer bogus information and as a result applicants are led astray. With the proper selection process, applicants will be able to select their writers easily.
Targeted Resume. 1. Highlights the experience and skills you have that are relevant to the job you are applying for. 2. Takes more work, effort and time to write. 3. Has to be very specific. 4. Recommended for Industry Experts. 5. Preferred format when asked by Decision Makers or Business Owners. Mini Resume. 1. Contains a brief summary of your career highlights qualifications. 2. Used for networking purposes. 3. Recommended use for introductory purposes or to break the ice. 4. Mostly used for networking purposes. Resume With Profile. 1. Includes a summary of an applicant’s skills, experiences and goals as they relate to a specific job. 2. These kinds of resumes are very detailed and long drawn. 3. Mostly used and asked for Legal purposes like migration or by the law. Infographic Resume. 1. An infographic resume uses visuals including images, photos, graphs, charts and other graphics to provide information about a job seeker. 2. Infographics can be shared with connections and prospective employers and pinned to Pinterest. 3. They are like traditional resumes in that they convey similar information such as contact information, previous work experience, and related skills. 4. However, infographic resumes convey this information in a highly visual format; for example, instead of listing previous work experience in chronological order, an infographic resume may display this information in an illustrated timeline. 5. An infographic’s unique blend of text and images can help job seekers stand out from other applicants.
Find out the working process. If applicants are to hand in their job descriptions written on paper, it is a guarantee that the resume will be copied and written in a different manner. A good writer will converse with the client and obtain information out of the applicant which he would otherwise have not produced. Time to write. A good writer will take about two weeks to complete a resume. This however, will vary according to the writer and the types of resumes written. Selection of a good resume writer is not easy. But the resume is what makes the difference between being accepted and rejected. Therefore, applicants will be greatly benefited by finding a good writer to write their resumes regardless of whether it is a sales resume or an executive resume. An effective resume doesn’t just get you a job. It gets you the perfect job.
Poorly formatted resumes: Every now and then while working in my position as a Corporate Recruiter, I receive resumes the old-fashion way, through the U.S. Postal Service, or as most people call it these days, snail mail. Although this is not my preferred method to receive resumes, I don’t typically hold it against a candidate; unless of course the resume is so badly formatted that it is unreadable. Or, even worse, the resume is hand-written! Not too long ago, I received a handwritten resume for a management position. There is no way that I would ever forward a resume of this nature to a hiring manager. No matter how a resume is submitted, it should be professionally formatted, edited for misspelled words and grammatical errors, and definitely should be typed! Beware! The most misspelled word on resumes (and my biggest pet peeve) is manager; if the word is spelled as manger, spell check does not catch the error!
Take Your Resume Seriously – As previously stated, if you don’t take your resume seriously then your resume will not be TAKEN seriously. If you choose not to work with a professional, then at the very least have an impartial third-party edit it for you and give you some constructive feedback. This is for your own sake. What happens when you accidentally type ”Manger” instead of ”Manager”? Do you think Spell Check is going to bail you out? Whatever you do, don’t send it out to potential employers without having someone else look it over. Some people just need to swallow their pride because when it comes right down to it, you may be the best at what you do, but if you don’t write resumes for a living then chances are there’s someone out there more qualified to write your resume than you are. Please consider that if you’re serious about being taken seriously!
