Resume builders and free sources don’t care about quality or uniqueness. They usually just want a resume for their primary purpose and agenda, or it’s merely a ”freebie” service leading you in to entice you purchase other products or services. HR recruiters are limited to their own experience. Agency recruiters simply can’t spend the time. They take an average resume and try to present it with their own write ups – their own elevator pitch – in hopes of filling jobs that they will get paid for. It’s easier than rewriting your resume and honestly, they don’t have a real investment in your career if it doesn’t serve their immediate purpose.When we do it ourselves, without specific coaching, we rarely create a selling resume because we are too close to the topic and too distant from the hiring process. Are we the experts? A professional resume writer can produce good, average or poor results depending on their skills & background, and price is not necessarily an indicator of quality. The blogs are full of mixed reviews. Since this is a lifelong skill, the best choice is to seek out the proper guidance and advice so you can quickly learn to craft and tailor an exceptional resume whenever you need it throughout your career. A resume also becomes a branding tool for social networks where you are checked out and found by recruiters.
So in order get an edge in the paper competition, your document can’t be just a resume —- but a Selling Resume! Since many of us do not have sales experience, and are too close to the topic to really sell ourselves objectively, we need to consult a sales-oriented advisor, a ”resume coach” to guide us in the presentation. What sections you should write in which order and how to write them. For example you can get an idea of how your resume objective should be by studying several objective statements in resume templates. Keep in mind that you are just using these templates as idea generators to craft out your unique resume because you are a unique. While choosing resume templates look for the resumes that strongly relevant to your academic background, area of expertise, your skills, qualifications, your professional experiences and kind of your work. There are some fundamental formats of resumes- Chronological, Combination and functional and Targeted (most preferred format today) Each format is used in particular condition. Research about these formats. Learn which format is used when and which format best suites you. Create your basic resume which you can edit whenever you need. Let me share with you a tip related to your technical skills summary based on my review of resumes over the years. After I check the list of skills, my next step is to look further in the resume to identify the specific jobs where that skill was used and determine how much experience a candidate has with the skill. The point is that listing the skill is simply not enough. Truthfully, I’ve found that most candidates never mention the technical skill anywhere else other than in the skill listing. In these cases, I will assume they really don’t have experience with that skill and are just listing it to catch my eye. More often than not, they do not make those assumptions or they could even be non-technical staff who are just following a checklist to screen the resumes. So, remember, that if an employer lists a technical skill on the IT job posting or ad, make sure it is on your resume in both your technical skills list and experience write-up.
2. Gather your information: After studying several resume samples and templates decide what and how you want to write your resume. When you are writing a resume your ultimate aim is to write a resume that guarantee you interview calls relatively a dream job.
